to help us
1.ROLDA
Anti-Chaining Campaign
The
Romanian Law nr.205 from May 26th 2004 concerning animals
protection as well as Annexe no.1 specifie the conditions
in which a dog should live in the owner'garden:
Each
dog should have a fenced area in the owner'garden where
he must have enough place to move around. It is forbidden
to chain dogs and dogs must have assured plenty water and
enough food,as well as the others minimal decent conditions
to have a content life.
The
problem is that especially at countryside(but in town'houses
with gardens, also!)almost all peoples are chaining their
dogs FOR LIFETIME,because romanians have the concept that
dog become more protective when he is kept in chain...and
in this way, poor dog will better protect humans'property!
ROLDA
statistic shows that 98% houses in rural environment(at
countryside)keep the dogs chained and more than 65% houses
in towns are abusing in this way of dogs right to move free.play
and live a content life, from this point of view.
There
are dogs in Romania that are staying a lifetime in chain, some
of them are dieing chained...A chained life it's not a real
life!
ROLDA
demands YOU:"Don't chain your best friend!"
2.Our
doggies'appeal ...a Christmas wish!
Since
Nov,15 and until Christmas,ROLDA is making an appeal to
all our readers interested about romanian strays to participate
at our Campaign:
"Christmas
is not only for peoples..."
After
going shopping or when you have some spare coins in your
pockets, please add them in a bowl until Christmas ...and
make a donation in order to support ROLDA'activity!
ROLDA
ProLife Shelter
Every
animal'lover that donates to Romania Animal Rescue,Inc and
ROLDA in this period ,until Christmas (plus all our donors
from 2004 year-round!)will receive a plush mascot,a ROLDA
calendar and a CD with video presentation.
Some
things I have to mention about ROLDA CD and calendar.
The
CD should be introduced in CD-Rom unit of your computer
and it contains a video presentation of ROLDA shelter and
one of local authorities pounds from Galatzi.
I was
thinking about this idea because many of you will not come
too soon in Romania to see the reality from local authorities
pounds, neither the progress and the way our shelter looks
like...you can also meet our doggies and see the facility
where we offer to accomodate you,if you plan to come as
volunteer for our dogs at ROLDA!!!!
The
ROLDA Calendar is edited as professional as possible and
the "stars" of each month in calendar are dogs
either from pounds ,either from ROLDA...prouving that our
dogs can be beautiful and shinning, like any others well-cared
and loved dogs from "civilised countries"....
Please
participate at ROLDA "Christmas is not only for peoples..."Campaign
and remember that we are surviving thanks to your generous
support!
3.October
month' volunteers at ROLDA shelter
Sharon
and Kay are the two UK ladies that spent almost one week
helping at ROLDA 'shelter and also visiting the local pound...
Sharon
is a designer and in her free time, she is donating her services
to make very nice collars and dog coats.
Sharon
donated in the past an important number of PCV collars for
romanian strays and spanish dogs...now,she and Kay donated
many dogs toys, some dog coats(perfect for this winter!),leashes
and collars,bowls... medicines and blankets,as well as office
supplies, all very usefull for our daily needs!
Many
thanks to all animal'lovers from UK that helped Kay and
Sharon to collect so many wonderful things for our doggies...and
special thank sto our two ladies volunteers that helped
me for one week to care my furry babies!!!
4.City
Hall pounds 'update.
The
first City Hall pound is the place where a while back, dogs
used to be electrocuted in order their skin and fur to be
used for industrial purpouses. In first pound ,there are
now about 250 dogs that live in 18 kennels(more than 8 dogs
in 4 square metters/each kennel) and some of them outside...
ROLDA
updated from our own resources as much as possible living'conditions
for those poor dogs,by adding wood beds for dogs, painting
and desinfecting the kennels, building 5 new blocks of three
kennels/each ...where dogs from outside can be sheltered
and protected against rain, snow storms and freezing winds...We
had many difficulties because local authorities didnt
like our idea to offer some confort to those dogs...but
we looked only a compromise solution,to be able to decrease
the high number of dogs from each kennel,by taking some
outside in a different fenced area,...
The
updates weve done to first pound are not exactly my
dreamed solution I have in mind for those dogs, but its
better than nothing and its far betterfrom what I
saw in the first day I went to that pound....Of course, each
dog sheltered there deserves a lot better and
every efforts are not enough to create him a better life
.
We plan
to add at first authoritiespound 15 new blocks of
three kennels the way you see in photos....
Since
March 2004,ROLDA supported entirely the running costs for
this first pound for dogfood, medicines, building updates(small
woon kennels,new fence,...)plus treatments,sterilizations,vaccination
and deparasitation of all dogs ..thanks to our donors and
thanks to DELTA'grant!
The
second City Hall pound was created in April 2004...and there
are around 600 dogs.
An important
number of dogs from second pound were treated by ROLDA against
scabies,different wounds,injuries,...
ROLDA
provided dry dogfood to strays from second pound in the
limit of our possiblities, hopefully we will be able to vaccinate
those poor dogs soon and deparasitate them all.
Almost
all dogs from second pound are sterilized.
Local
authorities feed OCCASIONALLY dogs from both pounds(850
poor souls!)with a "green" bread (as you'll see
on video on our CD!)...obviously,this green bread is not
a healthy food for poor homeless animals...The veterinary
support offered by local authorities is inexistent, they
didn't helped both pounds with one needle or one vaccine,bandage...or
anything !
I cannot
just ignore the miserable existence of poor dogs and pretend
they doesn't exist, only because they are not anymore on
streets, but they were collected months ago from streets
,crowded and kept in prison in those Hell holes-called nicely
"shelters"!!!
From
14,000 strays-the Galatzi canine homeless population ,crwoding
850 dogs in misey and lacks of anykind ,doesn't solve the
problem in anyway..worse,it only can show, once again if
needed a barbarian way of being of romanian authorities
dealing with strays overpopulation in my country!
Because
DELTA'grant ended last month ,we are desperately looking
for supporters that will help us to give continuity to our
programs and campaigns, enough succesfull until now.
We are
looking for donors for dogfood, medicine, medical equipment...
I contacted
different restaurants and quantines locally to obtain rests
of food for dogs at both authorities pounds,a generous meat
distributor offered few tones of rests of meat to both pounds-in
equal quantities ,one other fish'distributor donated an
amount of expired fish products...the situation is worse
when there is no hope for tomorrow!
I care
too much now for those inprisoned dogs to give up ...I need
your help!
Because
according to romanian laws,we cannot receive donated dry
dogfood, there is a possibility for you to pay directly our
romanian dogfood distributor (Montero Vet. Bucharest,Romania)to
send food /suplements for our doggies.
We count-as
always-on your support!
As an
update to ROLDA ProLife shelter ,we bought all building
materiels and on Monday,a team of workers will start building
the second block of ten kennels, that will give soon a new
chance in life for 40 more dogs with special problems or
in need of medical assistance!
Many
thanks to those who made this possible, special thanks to
Marie Margarone, the newest member of Romania Animal Rescue,Inc.for
her very generous donation and for her commitment for romanian
strays'cause!

September 2004 Dr. Jennifer Scarlett along with a team of
volunteers: Jane, Rebecca, Eric and Brenda offered their
services to sterilize and treat strays from Galatzi at our
vets. clinic.
Their
trip was possible because of our generous sponsors: HSUS
and Romania Animal Rescue,Inc! Special thanks to both of
them for their commitment to homeless animals from Romania!...I
know there is a person that worked so hard for more than
a year to make everything to go as best as possible..Nancy
Janes,my special friend that is always next to ROLDAproblems..and
that deserve my gratitude and my respect
because she
is important part of our succeses.
Dr.
Scarlett and her team impressed me because of their pure
passion to help animals in need.I usually can find my words
to express my feelings and things happened in ROLDA animalsWorld
but
those young peoples who already succed to achieve step by
step their lifetime goal
to improuve animalscondition
in less modernized countries
amazed me!
Even
if they were pleased that we meet each other, pleased to
see my animals and to discover ROLDAshelter
I
really saw them happy in true sense of the word first time
when they discover our vets. clinicfacilities: surgery
tables and accessories
practicizing their art,they
succed to be HAPPY just helping animals in need
moreover,they
are extremely professional and transformed the veterinary
practice in a form of art from which animals are the lucky
winners
Between
all vets. from my country I had the chance to meet, Jennifer
and Rebecca impressed me because of their results that can
be seen in only few days of work to help Romanian animals
Im
not an expert to give qualificatifs or to decide whom is
doing right or wrong the job in veterinary practice ,but
I can tell when excellent results are seen for my animalsbest
interests!
I would
like to thank to RAVSstaff for allowing this experience
to happen by sending those amazing well trained vets. and
assistants to help ROLDA and Galatzistrays
hopefully,next
year RAVS will send again a team to help us to achieve our
common goal and to stop homeless animals overpopulation
and sufference in Galatziarea.
We have
to give continuity to our developed projects, this can be
done with your support and with those peoplessupport

This
newsletter is dedicated to Cora ,my brave paralyzed rotweiller
that died on 15 Sept.2004 .She was abandoned when she was
hit by a car and her owner decided that poor dog isnt
a reason of pride anymore.
Cora
was abandoned by a Romanian welfare organization shortly
after at City Hall pound, where conditions are worse than
on streets and worse than anywhere a healthy human mind
can think its THE WORSE for animals!!!!
We rescued
her in a very poor condition and she quickly start be friendly
and playful.
She
barked each time I turned back to go because she was afraid
to be alone anymore
she was one of the smartest dog
I had the chance to meet
she suffered during her life
too much because of humans
and she will remain in my
heart forever next to Printz ,Danutz and all others friends
Ive lost in time.
Please
light a candle tonight for her !

ROLDA CD rom
Romanian
media about strays killed and served as food
to lions at ZOO!!!!
I was
shocked reading in the most known local newspaper from Galatzi
that dogs are killed with sticks and with others human
methods
but this might not be any surprise for all
of you,who didnt bored to keep read my appeals in
the last few years!
The
real shocking part is more a bad horror moviescene
than a thing that each normal human being can think of
its
worse than a nightmare and its over my capacity to
keep try understand humanscruelty!!!!
In Viata
Libera newspaper from 13/07/2004 there is a confession
made by persons who assisted to this atrocious act: strays
from Romanian authoritiespounds are served
as food to wild animals from ZOOs!!!!
Wild
animals are tortured often in Romanian ZOOs,left without
food ,water
without veterinary care
not to mention
about particulary conditions of each habitat that are not
respected and assured!
Romanian
authorities found a new way of making disappear
dogs from streets and also provide food for animals at ZOO:Caretakers
are killing in secret dogs and than dogsbodies are
given to lions for..dinner!!!
Im
going to translate small quotes from article appeared in
the local newspaper:
My
name is Alina Ionescu Cerei,Im a teacher at a school
from Tecuci-Galatzi county and (
)daily Im going
to put flowers at the cemetery, where all my family found
the peace.Sadly, next to the Cemetery-there is local ZOO,where
poor animals are kept in prison in poor conditions. In the
same area, there is a small City Hall pound where few hundred
dogs are kept without water and food
.Yesterday,passing
near that area Ive heard terrible sounds and when
I arrived closer,I assisted at a horrific scene:four persons
killing with sticks few dogs from pound
they were
laughing ,saying that there is a competition-whom will kill
quicklier more dogs
.
One
man came near me..he didnt stopped but he said they
(dogs) are dinner for lions
.
It seems
that this method is an old practice here because Ive
heard from others the same things but I didnt want
to believe
Caretakers throw dead bodies
in a box that was transported near the door..and when one
finally saw me,he saidHey,whats happening
.Move!Move!!!
In Romania,neither
the law neither the spirit of law regarding dogs isnt
respected
humans dont take the responsibility
for dogs living on streets..even if there are many animallovers
in my town,for ex.
How
can I comment such a thing ..being not an animallover, but
a human being who like to respect all living creatures and
like to be respected(but its hard to have demands
to be respected when humanssavage went so far!)
there is no law by my side to legally punish those criminals
.and none justice will be ever done here in animalsinterest!
ROLDA
contacted local authorities and they(of course!)denied all
these atrocious facts, they denied that dogs are given as
food to lions from ZOO!!!
Still,teens
witnesses can sustain the contrairly
I daily
try to SAVE lives
.sometimes,I dont think "rationally"
and I hang on any hope to fight for a very sick animal and
make him healthy again..what for?!
I hardly
am able to put the healthy animal back on streets and I
discover him dead ,hit by car, beaten by humans
The
poor stray from picture is safe now
She is only a small
example of whats happening here daily ,she is
one from many dogs are injured and hurted
for most
of them, time is essential and each minute is important because
it means a life saved
or not!
ROLDA
is taking care of dogs with permanent handicaps, just borned
puppies, dogs in temporarly need of veterinary assistance
we
also are trying to assure daily basic needs for more than
1,000(!!!!)strays crowded in our town-Galatzi City Hall
pounds
.1,000 dogs kept in prison in 85 kennels(2 square
metters/each kennel)!!!
ROLDA
needs a rescue van ... help needed.
As plans
for future,we would like to buy a rescue van,to build a
veterinary clinic that will offer free sterilisation programs
for homeless animals,to build others ROLDA small shelters
for disabled dogs in all major Romaniacities,to have
a mobile sterilization clinic, to extend our educative program
at national level,
Since
our rescue old van is broken, our daily activity is slower
than ever
.I m asking this time YOUR support
!

1.UK volunteers for one week at ROLDA
ProLife Shelter-Galatzi,Romania.
In June 2004,following our appeal for international volunteers,a
group of UK animal'lovers came to help us with our daily
activities and be friends with our strays in need!
Sharon and Maureen, both living in UK were devastated to
see the horrible conditions in which strays from Galatzi
are kept in two different City Hall pounds,in two different
locations outside of my town.
Our UK volunteers were devastated and very dissapointed
to see the indifference that romanians shows to strays'problem. They
leaved Romania thinking of what they leave behind and promising
they will spread out the word, inviting more UK animal'lovers
volunteers to see Galati'strays tragedy and assuring us
of their entire further support. In "Dogs Monthly"
,May edition of the well-known UK magazine there was a large
article dedicated to ROLDA ProLife shelter and our strays...I
pray that many animal'lovers to read it and try to understand
our problems and daily needs.
I also make an appeal to all ROLDA'e-readers :If anyone
wants to help our cause, please contact me to provide you
our posters and others informative materiels about ROLDA,to
spread them out;please organise a stall or garage sale or
any other fundraising event in your area, please write an
add or a small article in local newspaper for donated dogs'items, please
contact a local radio or TV and speak further about romanian
strays'situation ,ask them if they want to do a small report

Many
thanks for care about our romanian strays!!!
2.Local elections all over Romania(also
in Galatzi)confirms that maltreatment of strays will continue
at least four more years.
Basescu,the dog-killer Mayor of Bucharest was re-elected
even from first election round, prouving that being or not
an animal'lover,it's not a criteria to select a Mayor for
romanians.
In Galatzi, after the second elections round, the former Mayor-Dumitru
Nicolae was re-elected.Immediatly after that, some official
sources said that catching of healthy, sterilised dogs from
Galatzi'streets will continue...where those dogs will be
crowded anymore(they are already crowded sometimes 20 dogs/2
square metters/ kennel),whom will assure DAILY food for
more than 700 dogs, whom will assure medical care...nobody
ask these questions prior to start an illogical campaign
because nobody actually care to see the misery and pain
those dogs are suffering daily...each politician is preoccupied, after
votes'counting,to follow his own interests..Humanity and
understanding are not words common in a romanian politician
language.
3.New arrivals at ROLDA and miscelaneous
Cora is a sweet young lady dog,one year and a half.
ROLDA rescued Cora from one of City Hall pounds, she is back
legs paralised and she got a severe cold...After proper
treatments, the only "problem" Cora still have
is her handicap.
Because I strongly believe that the intensive therapy and
animal'power to fight against illness can do miracles ,as
in humans'case...I still hope that Cora's handicap is temporarly.
I offer daily to Cora,as I succesfully did in Merlin'case, the
motivation for her to walk, because everything is psyhological...In
the morning,i don't let her immediatly out of the kennel
because she will be determined to wait her "walking"
and she will do more efforts to walk...beside a good nutrition, adequate
to her condition.
Treats and squeezy dogtoys for Cora,in order to make her
life as beautiful as it should be ..are very needed and
appreciated! Please help Cora to live a happier life!
Four just borned puppies are making my "schedule"
since three days...they are "letting me know"
when I have to sleep or when I should QUICKLY weak up!!!!
They are very sweets angels, dumped into box in front of
the door,I don't think they have more than one week old.
They need special attention and care...Puppymilk formula
donated, sent to our mailing adress will be a gift for them!!!!They
will be always grateful for helping them to be big and strong!
Miscelaneous:
I recently received by mail two invitations from Best Friends
USA to attend the training course at "Best Friends"'Sanctuary
,together with another ROLDA member.
I'll be very probably in USA between 9-22 August 2004,because
after training course,we'll go to CHAMP Conference in Orlando,Florida.
Everyone who would like to meet us personally ,please contact
me by email/phone/fax to establish together further details!
Do you know that...
Today,TV News presented a hero-stray that saved a woman
to be killed by a bear-mommy,in a romanian forest!!!!Good
for you,doggie...but what is the humans'answer?
4."Animal People" Newspaper-June
2004 edition.
ROLDA ProLife shelter is THE BEST SHELTER FROM ENTIRE ROMANIA!!!!
From ANIMAL PEOPLE, June 2004:
"Dog wars along the Danube,in Transylvania, & on
the western front..."
The dog wars in the Romanian countryside differ little from
the dog wars in Bucharest. Some cities kill street dogs,
some entrepreneurs and administrators seek profit in animal
control, and rescuers try to save dogs by housing as many
as they can, while sterilization projects struggle to get
up to speed.
Individual dogs are often roadkilled or poisoned, but dogs
as a species are doing quite well. The "cultural carrying
capacity" of the Romanian habitat, i.e. the point at
which dogs are seen as a public nuisance, is clearly much
lower than the physical carrying capacity dictated by food
abundance.
Rats, rabbits, and horse droppings are abundant enough that
rural Romania also sustains plentiful hawks, eagles, and
foxes.
If and when the dog population declines, foxes will invade
the cities, much as coyotes are reclaiming habitat from
dogs and feral cats in the U.S.--and that will be problematic,
since foxes, not dogs, are the chief carriers of rabies
and mange in eastern Europe.
Fox rabies can be eradicated, as in western Europe, through
the use of oral vaccine baits. But no one, as yet, has managed
to eradicate mange in wildlife.
At the ROLDA shelter just outside Galatzi, ANIMAL PEOPLE
watched across a panoramic windswept valley as a family
of five foxes rehearsed their attack.
First came a sentinel, probably the father. He crossed a
brushy ravine and stood at the far side, signaling his mate,
who crept to the near side, then nodded toward her almost-grown
cubs. Three came at intervals of about a minute. When the
whole family had reached the ravine, they followed it up
the hillside. It bent to the right, toward a gypsy camp,
where chickens roamed unattended.
Beyond the camp stood a cemetery, affording cover after
the foxes rushed the flock, seized their dinner, and raced
away, while two gypsies with three dogs half-heartedly backtracked
them in the wrong direction.
After visiting seven dog holding facilities in Bucharest
in May 2004, ANIMAL PEOPLE visited three more in Galatzi,
near the mouth of the Danube, close to the Black Sea; one
each in Bucov and Campina, at the edge of Transylvania;
and two in Arad, the last railway stop before Hungary.
The ROLDA shelter, though new and relatively small, housing
about 40 dogs when we visited, is already among the best
known in Romania due to the prominence of cofounder Dana
Costen as a voice for Romanian dogs on the Internet.
Fluent in English, Costen has since 2001 provided frequent
electronic updates and informal commentary on animal-related
news throughout the nation.
In October 2001 California hiker Nancy Janes was upset by
the sight of homeless dogs on a trip to Transylvania. Searching
the Worldwide Web for Romanian humane societies, she found
Costen and ROLDA, whose name is a fusion of the first names
of cofounder Rolando Cepraga and Costen.
Nancy and her husband Rory Janes soon became patrons of
Costen's ambition to build and operate the best animal shelter
in eastern Europe.
Still only 26, Costen is off to an impressive start, especially
considering that she is in law school and Cepraga is a fulltime
mechanic. The ROLDA shelter scored 79 on the ANIMAL PEOPLE
scale of 100, tied for best in Romania. Subsequent improvements
may already have added points.
The ROLDA shelter is not easily reached at present, due
to poor roads, but the roads are certain to be improved.
Galatzi can only expand to the west and southwest, away
from the Danube, the Ukrainian border, and the Black Sea
coastal swamps.
The newly built shelter, with accommodations for visiting
volunteers, is only the most recent addition to the ROLDA
program. ROLDA also rescues injured animals and abandoned
litters in Galatzi, helps to feed about 375 dogs at the
two municipal pounds, and campaigns as much as possible
on other animal issues.
Yet ROLDA is mostly just Costen and Cepraga, with help from
Nancy and Rory Janes when they visit.
As charismatic and outgoing as she seems to be on the Internet,
Costen is in person intensely introverted and suspicious
of most other people. She acknowledged to ANIMAL PEOPLE
that working with people, including seeking funds, is the
part of her work that she finds most stressful.
Dog death camps
The original Galatzi pound was a Communist-era budka, or
dog-hide tannery, which supported itself by selling dog
pelts.
Post-Communism, the dog-skinning business collapsed, but
the facility continued to kill dogs until the tenure of
the present mayor. It now houses about 125 dogs in small
metal cages, with a tendency to overheat.
The cobblestone courtyard and view of the Danube hint that
if the dilapidated buildings were demolished, the site could
become a scenic outdoor restaurant--but something would
have to be done about two wells full of dogs' bones that
stand in the middle.
When the original pound overflowed, Galatzi converted a
nearby former fox farm, also overlooking the Danube, into
a canine concentration camp housing nearly 300 dogs, with
space for hundreds more.
It does not have to be as miserable as it is. There is room
for outdoor runs, if fences were put up and exits knocked
through the cinder block walls. The buildings have renovation
potential. The kennel staff promised that such improvements
would soon be made.
Meanwhile, both pounds are guarded by police, and only grudgingly
opened to visitors. The newer pound prohibits cameras, apparently
from fear that the conditions will be documented and shown
to the public.
The dogs are fed an uncertain supply of leftover food from
a local hospital. Though not starved, they fought viciously
for kibble brought by ROLDA, purchased with funds donated
by DELTA Rescue.
Supplementing the dogs' rations may have been a well-intentioned
idea gone awry. After ROLDA began feeding the dogs, they
received fewer hospital leftovers. Perhaps the hospital
simply had fewer patients, and therefore bought less food--or
perhaps someone decided to let ROLDA take over the whole
job of dog-feeding, and is now selling to pig farmers the
leftovers formerly given to the dogs....

After two weeks of daily treatment ,Danutz had to be put
to sleep today.Danutz was a fighter and even if his body
was half paralised and he suffered of severe renal problems,he
continued to fight daily to survive.
His strong character and his power to pass over the pain
the renal illness cause him,the desire to live only to please
others and his desire to fight against his handicap ...those
things will miss me each day I'll go to City Hall shelter
from now on!
Danutz was dumped by a local veterinary in City Hall shelter. He
promised to caretaker from there that he will come in two
days to take Danutz back for treatment but he never did.Danutz
was paralised after a car accident in December and because
the fact City hall shelter Galatzi doesn't have a veterinary
to deal with medical problems,he was treated by caretaker
the best he think of,until I discover Danutz(first day when
I was at City Hall shelter)...
I pray he will rest in peace ,away from this misery and
sufference he lived in,I pray he will forgive in his heart
my (HARD!!!)decission I took today with my vets. Maybe he
will also forgive humans 'inconscience and evil!!!!
City Hall shelter "Baza de Ecarisaj" Galatzi is
a dirty and horible place.I would release all dogs in streets
and put fire on that place,to burn and dissappear forever....The
City Hall shelter is the Hell for those poor furry babies!!!!
Please see photos of City Hall and rescued dogs&puppies

Each human wants moments to relax, moments to stay in a clean
place when we are ill or tired, each human wants a good meal
and a clean place to sleep in,a good word to hear and medical
treatment when we are in pain!
Galatzi 'dogs from City Hall shelter are those unlucky strays
catched by dogcatchers and kept in misery,in pain and without
basic conditions ...because some mentally sick humans 'orders!!!!
Galatzi dogs in City hall shelter are prisons for lifetime
,in small kennels,in their own dirt ,biting each other for
food ,dieing slowly without medical treatment.
Dogs with untreated infections become to smell because their
body is so infected ,dogs beatten by dogcatchers cannot
heal the wounds in such dirt and misery,no matter how much
we try to clean ,protect the wounds!!!!
Almost all puppies are suffering because parvo and even
if they recover ,their health is marked forever.
I rescued from that terrible place called "Baza de
Ecarisaj" and I transported to ROLDA shelter :Rex(a
dog suffering from epilepsia),a mother with 5 very small
puppies and a puppy with parvo,in treatment,a female dog
that is about to be "mommy" and a dog who has
back legs paralised and who will receive a donated cart
for his legs,to have a new hope in life!!!!
Few others healthy and sterilised dogs ,rescued from "Baza
de Ecarisaj" I released on streets,as long as dogcatchers
stopped catching strays.
ROLDA &Romania Animal Rescue,Inc. will start begining
with May month an INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM!!!!
Doesn't matter if you are a veterinary, assistant,or "just"
animal'lover who want to spend (alone or with your familly)
a holiday in Romania this year..YOU ARE WELCOME TO SPEND
A HOLIDAY IN GALATZI,ROMANIA -AT ROLDA SHELTER ,to volunteer
to help our dogs in need from our town!
We can accomodate groups of two persons at our shelter ,where
we have two small bedrooms ,a kitchen and a bathroom and
all accomodation conditions assured. You can subscribe to
our volunteers list and together we can choose a convinient
date for your coming.
If you plan to spend summer holidays in beautiful Romania, either
to visit Black Sea littoral,Carpathian mountains(where there
is the largest natural carnivore reservation from Europe),Dracula'castel,Delta
of Danube....or especially to volunteer at ROLDA shelter, you
can contact ROLDA staff at email/phone/mailing adress for
more details regarding your planned visit in Romania.
As long as you have the desire to give a hug to a romanian
stray (who maybe wasn't ever huged or never heard a good
word),as long as you decided that you might volunteer some
time of your vacation to care a stray in need from here, all
others details we can establish together...ROLDA would love
to hear from you and meet you in person ...and you might
have the "surpise" to meet on our streets a friend
for lifetime,a friend that tomorrow might die -happy in
his heart that he actually meet a human the way he dreamed
always humans are!!!
While you volunteer at ROLDA shelter, you might meet our
furry friends "in prison" at City Hall shelter
Galatzi and see the terrible conditions in which they are
living, you can also meet some kids from a Galatzi'orphanage
,dedicated to help our vets. in their spare time,...there
are also animal'lovers in Galatzi who are tired to fight
and lost so much in life...and dogcathcers took away the
only joy of their life ...a furry friend.
There is no time for the strays in prison at City Hall shelter..they
are waiting and waiting someone to come ,pet and adopt them,...save
them from that Hell !!!!
Hours are too long for those dogs who cannot even breath
in that horrible miserable air ,they are waiting and waiting
...until it's too late for some of them.
For those doggies who leaving this World without knowing
that there are some good humans ,too(a few indeed, but there
are still),I'm tired to say "I'm sorry"!!!!
Maybe an international volunteer program will start educate
romanians that volunteer to clean kennels and give fresh
water and food to dogs..isn't a shame,contrairly!
I count on each animal'lover from my list (who keep have
the patience to listen my prayers,my thoughts and my dreams)to
spread out to as many animal'lovers as possible this message....and
I'm praying many to subscribe to our volunteers list....not
only that you can directly help ,but indirectly-by telling
others Galatzi'strays situation and educating at your turn, some
romanians to respect and help less fortunate animals from
streets, being there because it's our fault!
We already will have some volunteers(and friends)from USA
and UK at ROLDA shelter. Our further newsletter will inform
you about their visit in details(including photos)...
FOR MORE INFORMATIONS ABOUT ROLDA INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER
PROGRAM ,please contact us by email/phone/mailing .
Many thanks and hope to see YOU soon!!!!
2."D.E.L.T.A.
Rescue" DONATION FOR ROLDA AND GALATZI STRAYS!
ROLDA &Romania Animal Rescue,INc.'staff are grateful
to D.E.L.T.A. Rescue Foundation USA for their recent VERY
GENEROUS donation made for purchasing first aid items and
food for Galatzi'strays we are treating and caring!
Deep "thank you!" to Mr. Grillo for thinking and
helping romanian strays in desperately need !!!
3.CHILDREN EDUCATIVE PROGRAM :"Tell
your pet'story"!
In spite of annoncement I've made in last ROLDA newsletter
to start an educative program in a Galatzi'school,to ask
a teacher to collect from his kids'class stories written
about a favourite animal....I decided to start this program
into an orphanage from Galatzi, where kids need more help...and
where I discover some great kids ,really loving animals.
Two girls spend all their free time at our vet. office ,playing
with dogs there ,bringing few puppies with parvo for treatment...and
caring those puppies until full recovery.
I think those girls actually saved those puppies,by assuring
them a complete recovery.
These two girls and few of their collegues will write short
stories about a special animal..and best three stories will
be rewarded.
I would be proud,at the end of our "contest" to
offer a symbolic prize to those kids who let us hoping that
those poor animals from streets still have a chance,as long
as romanian authorities will learn from a golden kid'heart.
Respectfully,
Dana
