Marion,
Niamh and the folks at Limerick Animal Welfare are really feeling the
pinch of veterinary bills lately. They have taken in many dogs whose
medical needs have greatly inflated their veterinary bills. Donations can be mailed to LAW via the charity shop 59 Parnell St, Limerick, Ireland. or sent through Paypal.com. Details are here: http://ameurogreyhoundalliance.org/donations.html Following is the brief story and photos of Lily. She was in very poor condition and nearly hairless when rescued. If pictures of this sort are hard for you to view, just stop here. Lily is very lucky to get a second chance thanks to the caring people at LAW. Please read on to the bottom of the story because there is a positive end.
Marion asked me to email you some photos of recent greyhounds and lurchers who came into our care. We are extremely stretched here. We have forty greys and lurchers at the moment. Many of them very ill needing expensive veterinary care. I have attached photos of lily a young lurcher rescued yesterday. She is in a horrific state. We have called her lily. Lily recently gave birth but there are no sign of her pups and we feel they must be all dead. She has lost most of hair due to mange. Her skin has broken down and is infected in many area. Lily is severely malnourished. When she came to us we couldn't stop her scratching. Lily was crying in pain, she has to be one of the saddest dogs to come into our care in a long time. Lily has started on treatment and we will do everything possible to save her but at this stage its to early to say whether she will live or not.
Luckily
for Lilly, the people at LAW have nursed her through a very difficult
time and you can see from the pictures below that although she is not
back to full health she is making a great recovery ... remember Lilly
is only one of hundreds of dogs helped by LAW and they always
need financial and other support ... please help if you can.
